Day 10 - August 17 - 9.31am
The agony on the face of Great Britain's Paula Radcliffe is obvious: with around five kilometres to go, she has fallen behind the race leaders, but in her mind there is no option but to keep running to the finish. The barriers on either side of the road serve to underline this.
This was a tremendously courageous run: despite being on crutches only a few weeks ago, Paula entered the Beijing race, determined to finish an Olympic marathon.

Day 10 - August 17 - 9.30am
A spectator looks away from the action as the Women's Marathon passes Zhongguancun, in north west Beijing.
After watching the start of the race in the centre of town, we jumped on a subway to go and watch at two more locations in the far north west of the city. The runners beat us to our first planned vantage point, but we were arrived at the final place just in time.
